Teacher and Student
They say there is destiny even in a simple brush between two people.
Among the many progamers, Sync and Casy[Alive] have a strange connection. They have a senior-junior relationship from the same high school.
Not many people know about it. It's unexpected, since their outward appearances are completely different, and they seem as though they would have no relation whatsoever. Sync has a mean look, while Casy appears naive and amiable.
But even if they were from the same high school, Casy was born in 1986, whereas Sync was born in 1983. That would mean that they had never gone to school together.
Casy explained that he knew Sync since he was in middle school. He added, "I learned how to play Starcraft from hyung" (meaning older brother). He also said that Sync never talked much, even back then. (Sync is known to be a very quiet, reserved person among progamers, completely unlike his explosive style of play.)
Later, after Sync was done with one of his games, I went to verify the relationship between them. I asked, "I heard you were his senior of the same high school?" He answered that it was true. Then I asked him if he really taught Starcraft to Casy. He replied, "Well, don't you think our styles are similar?" He also mentioned that they always went to the same PC cafe.
Thinking about it, their styles have some resemblance. Sync is famous for his extremely aggressive, volatile plays against the Zerg, and Casy is known for his maneuverability and offensive plays against the Zerg, which are supported by his excellent bionic control.
Though one can see the master-disciple relationship from their styles, it's amusing to imagine the two that look so different, sitting side by side at a PC cafe, a tiny middle school kid with an older high school student.
