The Noble Terran
Recently, one of the oldest veterans retired from the progaming scene. Kim Jungmin, also known as TheMarine announced that he was "sorry for causing trouble by leaving in the middle of the season," and that he had resolved before to retire during the off-season.With the start as a full-time progamer after winning the KBK Masters 2000 championship in the year 2000, TheMarine won the Expo All-Stars (2000), KAMEX2000 (2000), Jeju KBK (2001), placed third in the SKY Ongamenet Starleague (2001), won the KTF Najit Strongest Progamers (2002), placed third in the Hanafos Cengame MSL (2004), and led an active part in the KTF team from June 2003 for two years and ten months. He contributed strongly to the success of the KTF team in a number of areas, especially leading them to the finals several times.
Just as SlayerS_`BoxeR` is called the Emperor, TheMarine was known as the lord, aristocrat, and the nobleman. During his golden age, he established tactics and set plays, being called "By the book Terran" and "The Noble Terran," as he controlled his enemy with astonishing timing rushes, and received admiration from many fans.
From his shocking decision to retire, KTF coach Lee Junho expressed regretfully, "It's painful to lose such an important backbone of our team. We respected his retirement, and through the meeting we accepted his retirement proposal. I hope that he will be TheMarine that continues to put his efforts into whatever he may do in the future."
The chief director of KTF, Jang Giwook stated, "As much as he went through the trouble to make the choice, I hope that it was a good decision. It's regrettable that the principal player of KTF left, but we decided to respect his personal decision."
Concurrently, TheMarine became a commentator for Ongamenet, bringing sharp analysis for the SKY Proleague 2006.
